Recording Audio!

Today I decided to record the audio that will appear on the radio station within my film opening. I finalized the script last week after doing some more research. Using a radio station is an efficient and subtle way to introduce the important information to the audience. My goal with this audio is to allude to conflict and provide more background information. I will reveal the setting, date, and the death of Sammy Johnson within this audio. Not only that, but I will allude to conflict with corresponding shots.

Many horror films use this method to convey information. For example, The Purge (2013) uses the car radio to explain what the Purge is. It provides important information to the audience about the conflict that is yet to come. This scene is mainly what inspired me to use a radio broadcast to introduce the conflict.

It will be difficult to record this audio during quarantine, since my family is very loud and we cannot leave the house. I will try my best and edit any extra sounds out as well. I will need my father or my brother to record with me since there are two main broadcasters in my script. This should't be difficult since none of them have much to do nowadays. I am excited to record the audio and take a break from editing/filming.

This is the radio I will be using as a prop in my film. It is slightly smaller than I anticipated, but it is perfect regardless of its size.
